چکیده

Graphene, a new member of the carbon family, was used as an adsorbent due to its exceptional capability to remove Rhodamine B (RB) and Malachite Green (MG), two organic dyes, from aqueous solutions. Adsorption kinetics of RB and MG onto graphene and adsorption capacity of the adsorbent were studied. Also the effects of parameters, including pH, contact time, temperature, and adsorbent dosage were studied. The adsorption process was followed using UV-visible spectroscopy. The isotherm analysis indicated that Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms are suitable for RB and MG, respectively. Pseudo-firstand pseudo-second-order models were considered to evaluate rate parameters. The kinetic experimental results fitted well the pseudo-second-order model for the two dyes, with correlation coefficients being greater than 0.99. Thermodynamic studies indicated that the adsorption processes is spontaneous for both the dyes, and exothermic for RB and endothermic for MG.

Graphene nanosheets and graphite oxide as promising adsorbents for removal of organic contaminants from aqueous solution.

Graphenes are an emerging class of carbon nanomaterials whose adsorption properties toward organic compounds have not been well understood. In the present study, graphene nanosheets were prepared by reoxidation and abrupt heating of graphite oxide, which was prepared by sequential chemical oxidation of commercial nonporous graphite powder. Adsorption properties of three aromatic compounds (naph...

Adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics of Malachite Green from aqueous solutions onto expanded Graphite nanosheets

Expanded graphite nanosheets (EG-nanosheets) were used for adsorption of Malachite Green (MG) from aqueous solution. The influences of dye concentrations, absorbent dosage, pH values and the temperatures on the adsorption were investigated as well. The dye adsorption experiments were carried out by utilizing batch procedure. EG-nanosheets were initially characterized by scanning electron micros...

Removal of Reactive Dyes (Green, Orange, and Yellow) from Aqueous Solutions by Peanut Shell Powder as a Natural Adsorbent

Abstract: Background & Aims of the Study: Textile dyes generally are made of synthetic, organic, and aromatic compounds that may be contain of some heavy metals in their structure. Complex structure and presence of these metals cause toxicity and may be mutagen, teratogen or carcinogen. This study has investigated the ability of peanut shell powder to removal of some reactive dyes (Green 19...
